Here is another vote for Peete’s but I wouldn’t buy coffee online. Find a good coffee house and ask them. I personally like the black oily varieties like Italian Roast and French Roast.
I got this for my dad for Xmas and one for me too, since they want a minimum 2 bag order for shipping. Very nice, but I like a darker roast. A french roast would probably destroy the flavor. I should try to roast up a bit and see.Pure peaberry!
Coffee is such a personal thing; I would give a gift certificate to Peet’s or Lady Godiva [she can get some chocolate while she shops for their coffee]
What kiffa said about the gift certificate idea. Coffee IS an individual love (or hate) thing and it is better that your giftee has the choice of which variety she is going to imbibe in.
It would be like knowing that your friend likes CD’s so you buy him/her one without regard for the TYPE of music that they enjoy.
Same with coffee I’m afraid.
I’ll second that. I found Blue Mountain to be good, but nowhere near worth the price. Kona is pricy (I pay about $20/lb), so I don’t get it all the time, but I’ve never had a better coffee. I’d recommend Kaanipali as an almost-as-good alternative.
Nobody has mentioned Torrefazione? Expensive stuff, but I find it to be worth it.
And if you want to give a real “gag” gift there’s KOPE-LUWAK coffee from Indonesia.
