Here are a few he said he likes: Boomer (male kangaroo) Brizzie (nickname for Brisbane) Jackaroo (Aussie ranch hand) Jarrah (species of Eucalyptus tree) Miki (Aboriginal word for moon) Youri (Aboriginal word for listener) ---

One of my first jobs out of college was working in a small office in a strip mall. The business next to us was a car detailing and window tinting place. The owner had a blue heeler named Shasta. One day when the weather was nice I was sitting in a chair out in front of our office taking a break when Robert and Shasta came walking up. Robert grabs my leg and starts shaking it and says “Get 'im, Shasta!” and the dog started going after my leg! He was just playing around and the dog didn’t do any damage, and we had a good laugh. But it was crazy because I had never seen a dog go after someone’s leg on cue like that before! ---

Has anyone suggested RUDY? Nice name. I’ve had a cat, a snake, and a dog named Rudy. Is that weird? If I outlive Silas, I am definitely naming my next cattledog Rudy ---

Otherwise I suggest you take a leaf out of my neighbor’s book and name him Steve. The neighbor, Wayne, was chatting with us on our doorstep one day when this dog came trotting up our drive. Wayne says “Oh, that’s just me young bloke’s dog”, then he turned around and yelled “Oi, Steve! Get home!”. Greatest name ever. ---
