Does anybody know the lyrics to a folksong regarding a rooster?

The story goes something like this: The farmer had a farm but the cows wouldn’t calve and the fruit trees wouldn’t bear and he and his wife didn’t have any children. Then he got a new rooster and the cows started giving eggnog and the trees started bearing eggplants and his wife started having eggheads.

I only heard it sung once a few years ago but several people in the group recognized it so I’m guessing it is moderately well known by people who know that sort of thing.

I would appreciate anyone who could point me to the words and music.

Thanks in advance – pluto.

AFAIK, it’s called “The Rooster Song”, and the lyrics, off the top of my head, go:

CHORUS:
And then that rooster… came into my yard
And caught that _(a)_ right off her guard
We’re having _(b)_, just like we use ta
Ever since that roosta
came into my yard

The verses follow the pattern of:
I had a _(a)_… that wouldn’t have _©_
Oh I had a _(a)_… that wouldn’t have _©_
Now I said “Honey,
Now that ain’t funny.
To have a _(a)_ that won’t have _©_”

Some of the substitutions are:
(a) hen
(b) eggs now
© eggs

(a) wife
(b) eggheads
© kids

(a) waffle iron
(b) Eggos
© waffles

(a) Gas station
(b) Eggson (Exxon)
© gas

As you can tell, all the (b) are some sort of “egg” pun. And the thought of a rooster catching the wife off guard is kinda sick, if you ask me.

Shake Your Rooster

C’mon boys and girls, don’ be shy
grab your rooster and make him fly

Grab 'em by the next, twirl 'em around
fling 'em in the air, till he don’t make a sound

(chorus)

Shake shake shake
Shake shake shake
Skake your Rooster
Shake your Rooster

(repeat)

If he gets away, catch 'em if you can
pull out all his feathers, put 'em in a pan

If he doodle-doos, hit 'em in the head
Get a new larm clock, da Roosters dead

(repeat chorus)
