We found a three week old kitten on the side of the road yesterday; we got powdered cat milk from the store, but the directions are in Japanese and I’m not sure I’m mixing it right. Could someone look at [this](http://www.flickr.com/photos/59239497@N00/2067876792/) for me? Thanks!

> Refer to the can for quantity.\*
>
> If using only the included spoon, mix 2 grams (one spoonful) of powdered milk for every 10 ml (one and a half spoonfuls) of warm water. Use dry spoon to measure powdered milk.
>
> If using the bottle, each line represents 10 ml, so mix one spoonful of powdered milk per line.
>
> The resulting mixture is thick, comparable to real cat milk.

\*That’s a direct translation but I’m not entirely sure what that means. I _think_ it’s saying this piece of paper only describes the mixture ratio; you have to read the instructions on the can to know how much of the mixture to give to the cat.

My daughter’s not fluent, but she’s taken three high school credits of Japanese and did a year-long independent study, so she’s pretty good at written Japanese. She translated “the part you need to mix the milk” this way:

“If you only have the spoon that comes with the milk, mix them together in a ratio of 1 spoonful of powdered milk (about 2 grams) to 1 and a half spoonfuls of water (about 10 ml). Use a dry spoon for the milk.
If you have a bottle, put 10 ml of hot water in it and add a spoonful of powdered milk.”

_on edit:_ And it takes her a lot longer to translate than it took **scr4**!

However, you’ve broken a cardinal SDMB rule. Where are the pictures??

She looks pretty pitiful right now–her eyes are cloudy, but yesterday they were completely crusted over with gunk. Other than the upper respiratory stuff, she looks pretty good. Very spunky little thing. Another girl at the rescue organization I volunteer for just had some other kittens with the same stuff, so I’m using her leftover antibiotics and eye drops until I can take her to the vet tomorrow. Hopefully those eyes will start looking better soon, and I’ll post some more attractive photos.

The kink in the tail is apparently a common genetic thing in the cats on this island. The other cat and her kitten that I’m fostering also have kinked tails, but not as visible as this one.

Good for you! Even with the goopy eyes, she looks like a charmer.

Aren’t you and your family a military family? Be sure to get the cute critter checked by the Base Veterinarian. The Vet may also have suggestions as to what you can get from the Commissary to feed him (the cat, not the Vet).
