Well, they used to. Fasika’s and Red Sea, the two really good ones, are now gone. There are several lesser ones in their wake. The recommendations I’d have given ten years ago are very different from the ones I’d give now.
Skip all the “giant slice” pizza places; they are just awful.
Etete at 1942 9th Street NW is a newer and by most accounts better Ethopian restaurant. Washington isn’t just full of Ethiopian restaurants. I’m convinced it’s the reason that there have been famines in Ethiopia. There’s no Ethiopian food to be eaten in Ethiopia because it’s all been shipped to D.C.
Hey, thanks for the bump! It was AWESOME! I’ve got a class tonight, so I don’t have time to post details right now, but I promise to come back and update you on the events, as well as what restaurants we ended up at, and which ones we liked.
