# Need to copy from DVD

I need some software that will allow me to take clips from DVD’s and put them in .AVI or similar format. Nothing fancy, just want to add a bit of humor to a presentation I am doing for my western civ class. _The inqusition, here we go! The inquisition, what a show!_ What would everyone suggest? What is the best FREE software I can get for my money?

Your best bet is trying to find that video clip online.

Trying to rip the DVD and then edit out the section you want is going to be a pain inthe ass.

Unfortunately, you’re probably not going to get much direct advice since we’re not really allowed to link directly to anything legal…and the first major step to taking video clips from a dvd is by cracking the CSS encryption. Just do a search in Google for a web site called Divx Digest–you should find everything there. (If I remember the title of the site properly).

Ah… See, I assumed there was a way to simply record the image that the DVD was producing.

Well, if it’s a dvd that I made, I would just run the dvd signal into a tv in connector on the computer & the video card captures the signal easily. I’ve been doing this lately to make vcds of my old vhs flicks.
