Actually this is for my brother, he has been living back at our parents house but he is getting married and he just doesn’t want to live there with his wife and her two kids. He’s having a house being built, but it won’t be ready until probably Jan 1. What should he do? I told him, the only thing he can really do is rent one of those motel apartments. He says it would be too small, but who else would rent to him in such a short time? Staying at parents house is deff a no go. He wants to rent in the western suburbs of Chicago. Aurora area. Is there anything he can do besides rent out a hotel for the 3 months? ---

Contact rental agencies and see if there’s any place interested in a short term rental. It’s probably going to be based on what the housing situation is like in his area. ---

Check out nearby vacation resorts, which might have summer tenants moving back to the city, and vacancies at much lower rates in the winter months. Might be a little bit of commuting involved. Maybe Fox Lake, but there might be others. ---

Last time I used AirBnB you could sort for duration of stay, and some places offered an option of a month or more, with the rate often being significantly cheaper than just a few days or a week. ---

You might also find something on VRBO. They usually do just vacation rentals, but I often see quotes for monthly rentals. I don’t know how affordable it would be, but I sometimes find surprising bargains. You work the filters to sort for specific areas and dates. If this is for 90 days why not just stay where wife and kids currently reside? Re the parents “no go” for someone in a serious bind he’s being kid of fussy.
