I need a very basic video editor, it only needs to do simple stuff like crop out certain segments of video and stitch them together, like for a highlight reel for example, maybe with some transitions between the scenes. And that’s it. Windows movie maker is adequate for my purposes. Except it can’t read mov/mjpeg/m264. Are there any free or very cheap options for basic video editing with those formats?

[Avidemux](http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/) is your friend.

Simple to use, reasonably powerful, free.
