That said, I’d like to point out that the ethnic slurs for white people (like myself) are _really_ lacking! “Cracker” is nice, but lacks spunk. “Honky” is so dated that it’s more embarassing to be caught using it than being called it. “Ofay” iddint-day ever eely-ray atch-on-kay. “Wonder Bread”? Please, I use that one to describe myself (usually on job applications). So, come on people now! Bad mouth your brother! Everbody come together, try to cook up a good racial slur for white folks right now. Here are some of my suggestions: Grinks Twingles Bingers Dirty rotten Norman sons of bitches ---

I like the good ole fashioned “whitey” myself. If that’s no good anymore, I think I’d like to go with “Pat Buchanan”. ---

Nah. Actually “Whitey” was a fairly common nickname from around the twenties until the sixties. In fact it was so common a nickname John Stienbeck made a joke of this fact, numbering the various “Whitey” characters in his Cannery Row books (whitey number one, whitey number two, etc.). ---

If we need something that will make people angry, I vote for “needle-dicks”. Somebody who’s got some brain let on a Friday afternoon, make something that sounds like \ out of albino or blanc. albiner? Maybe we could call white folks “blancmange”. It’s really kind of a gross white pudding they ate in the middle ages. ---

Xtal - Sounds too much like “black man” which wouldn’t do at all. Personally I don’t think we need more racial stereotypes. In this internet era, we need to segregate people by the way they type. As in “YO, ALLCAPS, 'SUP?” or “HeY aOlKiDdIe!”. Maybe call people “Type: 0” or “Punct.Def” or somesuch. Just a thought. ---

Since I make pathetic attempts to play jazz on various instruments, making self-denigrating references to my race is a fine excuse for my inability to keep a beat, and that’s the usual epithet I pick. What the hell’s the etymology of “ofay,” anyway? It’s Pig Latin for “Fo” ? “Buchanan” is pretty good too, though. How about “Bush” ? “We were shooting dice back by the schoolyard fence, and a couple of motherfucking bushes came by and tried to get in the game.” ---

Uke, you know I think you smell of vest. I have mentioned this in other, more pointed threads, but it bears repeating: Black folk, especially of a certian generation, have nothing but distrust and dislike for white people. The above is only what they let me, a _simpatico_ half breed hear. I’m sure there are worse names. There are just not enough black people on this board to let you know about it. ---

Well, speaking from the other side of the racial divide, I would think that a name has to be effective as a weapon of oppression in order to be insulting. I’m a middle-class, middle-aged, white man. Therefore, I am Superman in this culture and nothing short of verbal Kryptonite will work on me. Trying to come up with it is more akin to mental masturbation–it feels good, but it doesn’t really count. However, for those white boys less economically-advantaged than I, “trash” has always served some folk well. OTOH, I have never seen a real relationship between poverty and trashiness, nor is there a rule that says you have to be white to be trashy. ---
