I’m guessing here that some kind of implement was used rather than a human penis.

Still, such barbarity is incomprehensible to most of us, and I’m glad it is. I don’t think I’d ever really want to understand _why_ someone would do something like that.
I think that’s just it-because it’s an animal, and because animals are well, somehow less than people. It’s seen as cowardly to pick on something so much weaker.
I have an explanation that’s likely to be less popular: a significant number of people care much more about the fate of animals than they do about other people, because they are utter failures at relating to fellow human beings. They gravitate toward, and relate to, lesser creatures that remain forever incapable of communication, and that they know will never shun them as inept losers the way human society has.

_ **Disclaimer** _: sodomizing dogs is wrong.

Well, this is nothing new. Back in the days of the Pilgrims a young man was arrested for having sex with a variety of farm animals including sheep, cows, chickens and a turkey. He was branded as being unredeemable and sentenced to death. Before being executed, he was forced to watch the killing of all the animals he had defiled. I’m not making any of this up.

The Pilgrims then invited the Indians to partake in the feast. And that’s the story of the first Thanksgiving.

Also, if a _person_ is the victim of a crime like this they can speak for themselves. They can tell the police what exactly happened, maybe describe their attacker, keep on the people investigating it. An animal has no voice.

Yeah, I was gonna say: When someone’s accused of raping another human, there _might_ be another side to it. Victim said yes, it didn’t happen, cops have the wrong suspect. But sodomizing an animal? What other side could there be?

Well, I’ll tell ya something, I personally gravitate toward animals over humans because so many humans, like aforementioned dogfucker, are just fucking worthless. A lot of people you interact with these days are little more than jibbering piles of vanity, arrogance and outright stupidity. Take a look at our media as an example. The highest rated shows on TV are ones where people debase themselves for the coveted “MILLION DOLLARS” and are turned into ersatz celebrities who end up being famous, just for being famous. Our popular culture is a veneer wiped over us to hide the horrible things that we’re doing, and the horrible people we’ve become.
Dogs, on the other hand, dig you for who you are, don’t judge you at all (which is a testament to your point) and more importantly, aren’t concerned with fame, fortune or what someone else thinks of them, they’re concerned with love, food, water, play and sleep. Frankly, it’s a lesson we could all learn.

Oh, by the way, I hope they find this wretch, (and if he’s not adjudged insane) nail his balls to a board,
There could be (in part) some merit to this explanation.

An alternate (and likely even more popular) theory: People who get bent out of shape over the attention and sympathy given to animals tend to be socially inept and have limited interactions with others. They think they’re not getting their share of the affection showered on animals and it causes jealousy and resentment.

Hint: interest in a particular cause or injustice does not preclude one having interest in combatting other injustices which may be more philosophically worthy to certain folks.

I donated a sum of money to our local Humane Society this past holiday season. What a waste! It could have fed and clothed some unfortunate humans. Of course, I donated about 20 times that amount to human causes.

I will now stop wasting time in this thread and instead go work for world peace.

I wouldn’t go that far, but it’s true that a hell of a lot of time, effort and money went to save **one horse** , which even if that horse did win the Kentucky Derby, I think is ridiculous.

Are you seriously suggesting that the dog is like fully conscious human who can’t speak or communicate in any way? Talking or not, one of those is going to suffer more, and it’s not the dog.

I just see no reason to treat a dog any better than a human would be treated. After all, dogs are _food_ in some locations.

I like my cat, but I have absolutely no illusions that the cat harbors any emotions at all. I’m pretty sure he hangs around because there’s a constant supply of climate controlled shelter, food and water.
No. That’s not even close to what I said. I am seriously suggesting that a human can tell the police what happened and describe his or her attacker. Maybe even point to a mug shot in a book. A dog can’t. If a person doesn’t feel like their case is getting the proper attention and he or she is being shoved to the back burner, they can complain up the chain or call the papers or whatever. A dog can’t. A person can write to their Congressman and try to get better laws and stronger sentences for offenders. A dog can’t.

And in this case the dog in question doesn’t even have an owner to step up to the plate for her.

And, in my mind those things just make this case that much more heinous and pitiful.

You are reading an awful lot into this thread. I see no one here suggesting that a dog be treated _better_ than a human. No one is saying take care of the animals, fuck the people let them figure it out for themselves. But a dog _is_ a living, breathing animal. Most are pets, or were at one time, and are dependent on humans to care for them.

I am not going to sit here an itemize my charity donations/volunteer work for you, but rest assured for as much as I do for my local animal shelter the humans are getting a hell of a lot more.
