As old timers on this board probably know, I’m a big fan of the Bonzo Dog Band and followed innes’s career as closely as I could. I’m saddened to hear he’s gone. ---

Two of my favorite performances, both from the same episode (April 23, 1977) of Saturday Night Live: Cheese and Onions (linked in previous post). Just Neil accompanying himself on piano. [Shangri-la](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBvNhYymVyI)- Neil backed by Howard Shore and his Bobby Blue Band. Far better than the more elaborate arrangement on Rutles Archaeology. Both links have only the audio, but worth seeing if you have the DVDs. ---

A fine Rutle, hopefully he’ll find another coward up there to provide minstrelsy for. A little macabre that I’d think of him for the first time in decades and then mention him in a post here yesterday morning. RIP ---

One of his first credits on [IMDb](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0409183/) was as a background character in the _Magical Mystery Tour_ film. That’s a good start. (Hey, I actually like _MMT_.) Of course, later, he worked with the Rutles. Neat. (And performed at _The Concert for George_.) ---
