Watching the Seahawks game yesterday I noticed that many of the players had neon green on their gloves and shoed. I noticed green dots on the back of a helmet. I figured it was just their uniform. But just now I noticed a green spot on the helmet of a Chargers player.

What’s up with that?

The green dot shows the refs which helmets have radio communications in them. There can only be one player per team on the field with the radio at any given time.

Yeah, we definitely need a sticky for this question.

The neon green gloves are Deion Branch’s trademark (or at least have been since he became a Seahawk). I haven’t seen anyone else wearing them, though.

Pretty sure the helmet dot identifies the radio-helmeted player as mentioned above.

One of the Seahawk’s official team colors is “bright green”. It is the color of the “seahawk’s” eyeball (logo/helmet), also a thin line on the collar of the uniform. So many players and fans for Seattle wear green accents. I’ve noticed more and more fans in the stands wearing bright green knit caps lately. I assume some vendor at the stadium sells them.

And yes, the green dot is a new NFL rule concerning helmet radios and applies to all NFL teams. The Seahawks are lucky enough not to have it clash with their team colors.

There can only be one mic’d player on the field at any given time, not one per team.

I think that’s what you meant.

There’s a long dissertation on the Seahawks’ neon color stylings at the [UniWatch](http://www.uniwatchblog.com) today.

For what it’s worth, you can clearly see the thin neon green uniform stripe in [this](http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/sp/getty/79/fullj.d2f4f9bd99b23d58e0e3761ca9aa0f28/d2f4f9bd99b23d58e0e3761ca9aa0f28-getty-78666144mw028_wild_card_gam.jpg) photo. And [here](http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/sp/getty/36/fullj.fdb0c622bf30e1b28af5f15ee480681c/fdb0c622bf30e1b28af5f15ee480681c-getty-78666144mw045_wild_card_gam.jpg) you can see the neon green accented shoes and gloves certain players choose to wear.
