Just read about this in the [NY Times](http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/01/nyregion/thecity/01nerd.html?ref=thecity) and it sounds awesome - like a live version of the Straight Dope. With beer.

Official website is [here](http://www.nerdnite.com/)

Next event is Thursday - I’ll be there for sure.

Other NY Dopers up for it?

Sounds like a great concept: The nerd as generalist, and (contextually) social animal. I like that. It subverts society’s, and maybe even nerddom’s own, stereotypes.

Unfortunately for me, I am so acutely aware of nerds, and NY is so full of them, that I get nerd panic attacks at times. So I probably would end up drinking too much of something other than beer, and engaging in loud caustic heckling.

Let’s hope the speakers are screened for a sense of humor.
