If anyone asks, I tell them I prefer open sandwiches to ‘optimise the filling to bread ratio’. If, in the making of said sandwich I accidentally tear the ham/cheese/whatever I exclaim “Damn you and your lack of tensile strength!” I head out under the cover of darkness to forage for food. I have a t shirt that says “I don’t do small talk” I tell people that they are not getting fat, they are merely optimising their surface area to volume ratio. I do recreational mathematics. The librarians know me by name. I often talk in phrases from star trek. I am disappointed that neither my apartment no. nor my street no. is a prime number or in the Fibonnaci sequence. I’m sure there’s more but I’m tired and I don’t want to type anymore. Bring on the neural interface! ---

I bought all the Battlebots models and assembled them. I proudly display them on haphazardly stacked books on the bookshelf in my computer room. Sometimes I array them on the floor and have a “winner takes all” tournament. The “winner” gets the topmost position on the bookshelf when I put them back. ---

I customize action figures, just for the fun of it. So far, “Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner” and “Audrey Tautou from _Amelie_” are the most notable. (If this doesn’t kill the thread, I don’t know what would) ---

When a polititian I dislike (most of them) is having a hard time in an interview, I have been known to shout ‘Finish Him!’ at the radio. I provide my own running salty pirate captain dialogue when playing Sea Dogs. ---

I bought a toy light sabre last year. I was thirty one at the time. It is quite cool though. Its telescopic and makes the humming noise and the clashy noise as well. Uhmm, I’m just compounding it now aren’t I… ---

When I see strings of numbers (for example, digital clock readouts on a vcr), I often quickly add and/or multiply them together and then work out their factors. I’m generally happiest if I can make some kind of numerical pattern in my head from all this. ---

I really enjoy playing the recorder. My parents even bought me a fantastic wooden one for Christmas. I try to figure out radio songs - my favorite one is “Schism” by Tool. It sounds great. I jig in public when I hear a song I like. This really embarrasses my mom. I like to go to Office Max just to look at the pens and pencils. ---

i’ve done/i do the following: I do force pulls. When no one is looking and a door is automatically closing behind me, I extend my hand and use the force to pull it closed. If I forget to write something down on my endless collection of lists, but I remember to do it anyway, I write it down just for the pleasure of scratching it out. I also try to make change in my head before it pops up on the register I give enough dimes, nickels and/or pennies so that I only get quarters back for change. I like to go to Office Max just to look at the pens and pencils. I copy/paste different posts, because using code for quotes takes too long. ---

I regularly purchase those “Logic and Word Problem” Booklets. I periodically correct the grammar or spelling of others. I worship the Fat Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons. I often daydream about mechanics/physics related problems. I first read Stephen Hawking’s “A Brief History of Time” when I was 10. I enjoyed it and have read it several times since. I scavenge stores and garage sales for compilations of trivia in book form. I also emulate Niles Crane on occasion. ---

There are more computers than people in my apartment (7 - 2. Six are mine, one is my roommate’s) Four of them are servers. Two of them aren’t in cases. I run an internal caching/resolving nameserver on the home network. My private domain is ‘penguin.land’ because my network is mostly Linux. Now that I have a roommate I’m thinking of installing SQUID (webcache) on one of the servers since we visit a lot of the same sites and that will improve our bandwidth usage, a little bit. But mostly because it’s fun to play with. My laptop is named ‘midget’ I read Economics texts for fun. I’m sure there’s a lot more I’m overlooking. If **jinwicked** wanders through this thread I’m sure she’ll point out the ones I forgot 🙂 ---
