My personal take is that Israel should STFU about any other country’s nuclear anything, until it signs the NNPT or opens up Dimona to inspections. ---

I just like to say, as an Israeli, that I apologize for Netanyahu’s speech, for his appearance before Congress, and for his very existence. I also recommend that you ignore anything and everything he said in his speech. Bibi says lots of shit, and none of it means a thing. ---

Of course Iran wants nukes; you don’t have to assume that Iran wants them to go on a suicidal nuclear jihad. Nukes would give Iran the ability to say “Fuck You” to the United States, bolster Shiite Iran’s power vis-a-vis Sunni Saudi Arabia, and vastly strengthen its ability to be an active player in the Middle East without risking retaliation. Nukes, _once you have them_, are power and security, and its pointless to presume that Iran will stopt wanting them. Iran’s current dilemma is to get through the “strangled in the cradle” danger zone and get a nuclear deterrent available before anyone can stop them. And when Iran has them, what’s the rest of the world going to do- keep sanctions in place forever? Sooner or later a nuclear-armed Iran would be the status quo ---

Am I misremembering history, or has Israel itself not been attacked several times while in possession of nuclear weapons? The only thing that nuclear weapons deter is a nuclear attack and, perhaps, the threat of invasion. ---

I feel kinda ripped off that he didn’t bring his cartoon Boris and Natasha bomb poster prop with him like he did at the UN (burning fuse and all!). I mean, for 5 the billion a year in US aid or whatever the hell it is, can we at least get some visuals fer chrissake? 🙂 ---

Depends on when it’s presumed Israel gained nuclear weapons- Israel probably didn’t have an arsenal- as opposed to a few prototypes- until after the 1968 war. The 1973 Yom Kippur war was mainly about Israeli-occupied territory, Israel’s core territory was never in serious threat. ---
