NETFLIX to TV

The article quoted doesn’t prove what you said. It just proves they need more money. After all Blockbuster works with a similar system. Netflix need to increase their subscriber base so they can sweeten their pot. I think Starz is hopeless, but they have other options, if they have enough money.

Of course, we are talking a battle to the death with the cable companies, who want to control the distribution. I suspect Netflix will end up having to charge separately for new movies and pass the fee back to the content providers. I hope they end up with a deal like redbox and you only pay a dollar to watch a new movie.

Just adding a data point: TiVo can stream Netflix movies. Not sure if you can use TiVo outside the US, though.

If you happen to have an iPod, an AppleTV does a nice job with Netflix streaming and lets you play your iTunes music and videos on a TV. IMHO, the AppleTV does Netflix much better than my Samsung BD player.

It’s worth noting that neither device will let you manage a DVDs by mail queue, and my BD player doesn’t even let me search and find streaming videos - it would only let me pick from whatever I had put into queue via a computer. This is from before when they split DVDs by mail and streaming into two separate services, but I have no reason to expect Samsung has written new firmware for the player to allow searching.

A Wii can’t put out 1080p. I think it’s limited to 480p, and that’s only if you buy a component video adapter for it.
