My car’s not particularly stinky, but it does transport stinky clothing (‘outdoor sports in the Florida summer’ levels of stinky) a few times a week and the odors can persist for a day or so.

Does anybody have any suggestions for air fresheners that aren’t the typical chemical cocktails you get from a Febreeze or Glade a/c vent dongle? Specifically, I’m considering getting some bamboo charcoal bags, which are billed as odor absorbers. At one point I bought some cedar chip sachets but I frankly have no idea whether they did any good.

Related question: they say that charcoal bags can be “reactivated” every month or so by direct exposure to sunlight. Does anybody know if/how that works? Trying to Google for information gets me stuff about UV rays expanding the pores of the charcoal and it frankly sounds like absolute nonsense.

You might say…

…it doesn’t pass the sniff test.
