Also, if you are in Aloha, Oregon, it is “uh-loa, or-e-gun” not “uh-lo-ha, or-uh-gone”. “Sequim” is “Squim”. And if you can’t pronounce Puyallup then you aren’t from around there.
In my experience, most locals purposely mispronounce their place names so that they can easily locate the visitors (and then laugh at them).
How was I supposed to no that La Jolla is one of the few California place names that properly pronounces the Spanish? And Worcester, Massechusetts, can just go to hell.
