# Never ending update - Win 7 64 bit

My computer has one update that it cannot complete. It’s a new Windows 7 system (Yay for Dell not forcing 8 on me!)
The update appears to for IE10. I’m currently at IE9 out of the box. I found references to ways to correct it, but they were pretty complicated.
Does anyone else have this problem? Have you fixed it? How?
I wish MS would do something about this. I shouldn’t have to root through update logs to solve their bug!

The easiest solution is to just ignore it. Go into your Windows Update control panel, right-click the faulty update, and select “Hide Update”. (If Microsoft fixes the issue that’s making it fail to install, it’ll be redistributed as a new update, and should apply correctly at that point.)
Other than that, there’s not much help I can offer without at least knowing _why_ the update didn’t apply. Windows Update always gives an error number-- do you have it handy?
