I remember listening to NPR on the day of the attack and hearing the announcer saying something like “nothing will be the same after today”, and thinking to myself, that this was a huge exaggeration, that it was a horrible tragedy but that after a few months by and large things would go back to the way they were before. It turns out I was totally wrong, but I think we would have been better off if I was right. ---
