> Alan Rickman, for instance, has a much bigger scene after the line “You never did pay attention to the Craft!”

Actually, I think that this one scene _should_ have been left it. It makes it clear that Rickman’s character is a method actor.

Method actors work by trying to “become” the character they are portraying. This is what happens to him when the alien who has modeled himself after his character dies. He gives his “…you shall be avenged!” line then charges the bad guys. His method acting has kicked in and he has _become_ the character.
“I see you managed to get your shirt ripped off…”

> “Galaxy Quest” was a lighthearted comedy; additional depth to the characters would have been wholly superfluous and would have bogged the film down. Really, the scenes should have been cut. Get to the next joke.

Disagree. There’s a difference between a comedy like **Galaxy Quest** and one of the Zucker/Zucker/Abrahams outings like **Airplane**. Airplane didn’t need character development (but it _still_ had some!), but Galaxy Quest did. And those cut scenes added a lot. I’m really sorry they cut Sigourney Weaver’s scene – “the Revenge of the Not-a-Bimbo”. If nothing else, it explains howcum her shirt’s open when they press The Button.

Bwahahahaha!

That was my favourite line in the whole movie! It had me in tears I was laughing so hard.

I love this movie … I think I’ll have to go out and get the DVD, well, once I get the DVD player hooked up.

Are you sure? Doctor Phlox on Enterprise is played by John Billingsley. I don’t see his name anywhere in the cast list for Galaxy Quest. Mathesar was played by Enrico Colantoni. You must be talking about someone else though, right? These two guys don’t look or sound anything alike

- Cripes, teach me not to do my homework. I could have sworn up and down that they were the same guy. They had the same mannerisms, head shape, voice. At least I thought they sounded alike, and I’ve seen both the film and the series recently. I’ll go bury myself now…

Anyone besides me check out the first (fake) resume and then go to tracer’s, and was actually disappointed that tracer did not also list employment at an ice-cream/frozen yogurt shop?

No?

Carry on then.

I also saw tihs early in the morning over the weekend - god love those dozen Encore/Starz channels, eh?

Anyway, nobody’s mentioned my favorite line: When Tim Allen is in the Limo and he’s hungover, he looks at the woman and says “Doesn’t she talk?” And she says “BLOO BLOO BLOO BLOO BLOO!!” Then Mathesar says “Her communicator is malfuntioning” - cracks me up every time.

[slight nitpick]
I think I found a plot hole in it, though, maybe someone can correct me:

The entire ship is created from the TV show, and it needs conceived-by-some-TV-writer “Berillyum Spheres” to power the generator. The how come they find _actual, real life_ Berillyum spheres down on that planet?

[/slight nitpick]

Don’t get me wrong, I loved this movie, but I always wondered about that…

As for the shirt being unbuttoned, I thought that was another intentional-making-fun-of-the-old-shows, where the beauty’s bosom always happened to be heaving…

Yeah, but that overinflated list of “computer skills” he has on his resume – it looke almost exactly like my resume’s “SKILLS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS” section! In both of our cases, it looks like we put down any operating system and/or programming language that we happen to have brushed up against since we were born.

I figure the aliens watched the show, went looking for something that _looked_ like a Berillyum sphere and could serve as an energy source, found it, then called it a “Beryllium sphere”. I mean, we don’t know if that thing the GQ crew was rolling around the desert actually _had_ any Berillyum in it…

Sorry, but I saw one of the very first showings.

They, uh, changed it later. It was funnier before.

My personal fave is not a line, it’s that moment when the alien soldier goes "splat’ on the window of the alien ship.

But what a film for great lines!
**They’re Termites!**
**…AND it exploded!**
**It’s a rock! It doesn’t have any vulnerable spots!**

…and one that my wife and I use all the time:

**It’s the simple things that you treasure.** \*
