I was once like you. I refused to try it, hated everything about it. One day when I was 24 I was forced to try it. I faked it, didn’t chew, and spit it out immediately when no one was looking. Still, it was in my mouth- surely I would get sick from some kind of sushi disease. 2 years later, I’m forced to try again. This time by a friend who knew me and made me chew and swallow. It was horrible, just like I though it would be. Every taste, every texture was worse than I could imagine. For the next 2 years I had a piece here and there, kicking and screaming, and never more than 1. Then one day I discovered, at the age of 28, that I actually didn’t mind the piece I was pretending not to mind- and that I might have another. And now at the age of 32, sushi is one of my favorite foods. I eat it at least once a month. It’s because there is just an undeniable fact what people say- it’s just SO GOOD! MMM Spicy Tuna! MMM eel and avacado! Though I have still never tried one of those big plain strips of sushi. And I never will. They are raw and they look gross. ---
