I guess I don’t understand the reason behind the post. Is she looking for more validation that’s she’s good looking? Or wondering why she wasn’t complimented in her home town? Or upset it was mostly black men that found her attractive? Or the idea that men in LA are more vocal or friendly? ---

Actually, although this is an online forum, we do value proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation here (allowing for the occasional typo). And insistence on not using them is not a point in your favor. ---

I do not have a cite to back it up. In old English, the word “girl” merely translates as child. Boys were also called “girls” until they became “knave-girls” “knaves” and eventually “boys”. The word “girl” changed meaning to refer to female children only. Since English and German share the same roots, is it possible that German evolution to “Mädchen” held on to the neuter meaning that the English discarded? (I do realize that I am not using the correct old spelling of girl, but there are actually several spellings.)
