😕 The verb “protest” means “Express an objection to what someone has said or done”. What was her objection? Was she complaining that I’m too good for her?

> "The lady doth protest too much, methinks" is a line from the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare. It is spoken by Queen Gertrude in response to the insincere overacting of a character in the play within a play created by Prince Hamlet to elicit evidence of his uncle's guilt in the murder of his father, the King of Denmark.

I looked at that wikipedia page just before…

it says:

My wife originally wrote:
“I love u so much. I cant believe that i got such a good husband. I love u dearly. Love [name]xxoo”

What is she insisting is “not being true”?

Maybe you mean she believes the opposite but is trying to convince herself that her situation is very good.

I’m saying that she’s avowing too much love and adoration for you, too much than can be true. It’s true that most people use the phrase to mean “object so strongly to something people assume you really feel opposite” that’s not what it means. It means that she’s promising or avowing too much. So going on about how you’re the best husband in the world, it’s just too incredible for me.

If you’re not cut, why are you always bitching about your wife?

I’m guessing she’s actually quite pretty, and I’m really, really feeling bad for her.

She’s probably on another message board constantly seeking reassurance that mental stability isn’t all that important in a husband.

Her waist is about ten inches bigger than mine… BTW my wife sometimes says she loves my boobs, etc, and she wants to lose weight. i.e. she agrees I have a better body than her.

Yes “quite pretty” - that’s why I told her she’s “pretty pretty”.

She’s the one that’s mentally unstable. I haven’t had significant problems with mental stability for many years.

I think you’ve got a bad eye for sizes.. unless you’re five feet tall, there’s no way you’re a 34. I wear a 32 normally, and a 34 on my worst bloaty period days, and I’m way smaller than you. I suspect your wife isn’t nearly a 44.

That photo was from a year ago (Feb 27 2011) - in the past I’ve been 32 inches sometimes. BTW I go on what my jeans/shorts say. My wife has told me she is now 44 inches and that she was 46 inches at our wedding. In the past one time she said she was 42 inches.

It’s not about how “big” you are – you’re still flabby and out of shape, so you have NO business always bitching about how ugly your wife is.

I never said my wife was ugly. I think she just has average looks overall. And a lot of the time I am talking about what I like or love about her. I am just complaining about how big her belly is and even though I’m still somewhat flabby and out of shape, I think I should be able to complain about it. Anyway I’m a guy… I thought it was the girl that was supposed to be the pretty one.

From Mya’s “Free”:
“I can’t stand a man who thinks he looks better than me”

My wife tells me a lot about how hot she thinks I look… she even said to some girls that she knew that were about 13 that I’m hot.

BTW it isn’t just about me not feeling attracted to her belly… there is a government initiative that says for women there is an “increased risk” of health problems if your waist is 32 inches and a “greatly increased risk” if your waist is 35 inches… I asked her to tell her doctor about that but she said that it wasn’t accurate - yet it appeared on TV a lot and still is on the internet.

Also my clothes basically hide my belly… I’m more concerned about how she looks with clothes on - it is much much harder for a girl to look good naked - e.g. without support their boobs might sag a lot, etc. (BTW my wife’s belly sags when naked ☹ )
