# Never thought I'd say this - I wish the Riders hadn't scored that much: 51-8

Being a Rider fan, one is accustomed to the lows.
The 3 for 18 season in 1999.
Two Grey Cups in a century.
No home playoff game in living memory.
So you would think that when the Riders finally get it together and have a good game, we’d be cheering like mad.
Instead, Mrs. Piper and I were almost embarassed by the win last night - one of the saddest games we’ve watched: [Riders 51, Ti-Cats 8](http://www.cbc.ca/cp/sports/060827/s082706.html).
Maybe it’s because, being Rider fans, we’re contented with ekeing out a win in the last few minutes. We’re not used to the idea that the Green & White will force the other side’s QB to fumble on their second play of the game, pick it up, and run it in for a touchdown at 14.10 of the first quarter.
A lopsided score of 51-8 involving the Riders? normally we know instinctively who got the 8, and who got the 51. It’s hard to process the idea that of the 8 points for the Ti-Cats, 6 were safeties conceded by the Rides, and Hamilton only scored all of 2 points on their own.
We feel for you, Tabbies. ☹ It must be tied to that demotion of Pluto thing - the stars and planets are suddenly not aligned properly, and the Riders are winning. 😛

Not to mention, the Riders were playing their third-string quarterback, as the starter and his backup were both injured coming into the game.
The Ti-Cats are a terrible team. What’s mind boggling is that, if they hadn’t folded, the Renegades would likely be even worse. :eek:

Actually, Rocky is pretty good. About four years ago, when he was _fourth_-string, he got pressed into service as the starter for the Labour Day Classic against Winnipeg, because the 1st, 2nd and 3rd string QBs were all injured. Just the biggest game of the year, and his first start ever in the CFL. But no pressure.
We sat down with a feeling of dread - I rmember thinking that the only question was “how bad will it be?”
He won it for us! Nothing flashy, and pretty simple patterns, but a win! On Labour Day! And there was great rejoicing in Riderville, with a feeling that we really dodged a bullet.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rocky moving up in the depth chart, especially since Crandell has dislocated his elbow.

That’s how I read it too, and I couldn’t imagine that the Raiders could manage to score 51 points, much less have their defense be that effective.
What is the OP talking about anyway? Rugby? Canadian football?

Ugh… I was _there_. Well, for the first half, anyway. It was getting wet, and we were getting pelted yet again, so we left at the half.
For the record, the TiCats have been outscored something like 100 - 10 in their last 3 games. We suck and there’s no sign of recovery this year.

Biggest game of the year happening this weekend.
Glenn and Stegall back in the line-up. Glenn looks pretty good in Blue and Gold, no?
Bombers coming off a couple of losses will be hungry for a win. I’m sure they won’t run up the score though. 🙂
Maybe keep Rocky on the bench for this one.

I was born in Moose Jaw the day the Riders won the Grey Cup in 1966, and they won it next the first year I was out of Saskatchewan for the Grey Cup. I’m sure the two events are COMPLETELY UNRELATED!!!
