I don’t mind it. What the hell. But we have GOT to give Engraving and Printing some extra tasks. Maybe sweeping up the Mall or something. They clearly have too much time on their hands. ---

I don’t know, the whole SPECIMEN thing is kind of weird. Wouldn’t it make more sense to have the watermark say FIVE DOLLARS or something useful? 😕 Maybe U CAN HAS CHEEZEBURGER would be good, too. Like for foreigners who don’t understand how much money is worth. ---

It’s on the pictures so that dumb counterfeiters don’t get the idea to print out the photo and try and pass it off as the real thing. ---

I was a little shocked at the purple. It seems awfully…flamboyant. But I like it. It’s a step on the path to pretty money like those furriners have. And it will be easier to pick out a five from a stack of bills in a half-open wallet in a dark purse. I give it…five stars. Purple ones, in an arc. ---

This is of course just the beginning. First we get used to purple, then they swap Lincoln out for Prince, and the next thing you know all we’ll spend our money on are strippers and poofy shirts. ---

They could have integrated the Big Purple Number into the design a bit more. Okay, a _lot_ more. OTOH, the asymmetrical placement of Lincoln is pretty good. I liked the series of bills that came out around 1998 that were all asymmetrical; I think they were the peak of design for US bills in the current style. ---
