# New ad series starts Monday, 4/4/16

It appears that I am only logged in when I am on the message board page not the articles page. How do I log in on the articles page or confirm that I am logged in on the articles page?

I continued to have a difficult time with ads on my desktop (new computer) even though I logged in with my registered name. I finally downloaded a very good ad blocking program and it has been amazing. An entirely different experience.

Not sure if this is the kind of ad being discussed in this thread, but before going on I would like to note that I am a paid member and also I am running Adblock, so I should be immune from this sort of thing.
Three times in the past couple of weeks, when I have clicked on my link to the Straight Dope home page (not the SDMB home page) a second tab has opened in my browser (IE v. 11) with what was probably advertising on it. The first two times I just closed the tab so fast that I didn’t note what was on that page. It just happened for the third time and the contents of the page was Popular Science TV. I assume it was some kind of ad, but it took so long to finish loading I didn’t stop to find out for sure.
So what’s up with that then? Is it coming from the Straight Dope?

I’m a guest and use Adblockplus.
It works with Firefox and Windows.
I never see any ads 🆒 (nor do I have to waste time closing windows or reading garbage.)

Only paid members don’t get ads.

When I sign in at work, I’m still getting those Popular Science TV pop-unders with the loud autostart videos almost every third time. It’s not unobtrusive if you can’t see them but you can still hear them.

I get them almost everytime I’m here and have to resign in mostly form saveur and such … at least its not live jazmin …
