> I think spongebob is a crappy show. I feel it’s almost always laced with far too much inappropriate material for children in the first place and the commercial pisses me off every time it comes on. The song was funny like what? 10 years ago? I never liked it either. Kids are starting sex far too young and I think the ones that see that might just know exactly what it’s all about. It’s ridiculous to have women with squares on their asses and that freaky plastic perv dancing around advertising childrens meals and toys using sexual innuendos. All the tv for kids now is stupid, Spongebob is just one of many thoughtless shows they put on these days.

What a square. 😉

I’ll have to bow to your opinion on the Spongebob show, though, since you’ve apparently watched it much more than I have.

I like Spongebob, dammit. It’s funny and fun and I’m 32. Kids have always had some crappy shows to watch, it’s like anything else: we remember the good. I feel oddly bad for the dancers in that video, though. What a thing to put on your resume…

Really, what are some examples? I never detected much of anything at all in Spongebob that would offend even the most conservative viewer, except overall wackiness and silliness. There’s a little drool and toilet humor, an occasional cartoon butt. Look at some typical plots:

-Spongebob gets teased for getting kisses from his grandmother
-Spongebob decides to quit work and live with the jellyfish
-Spongebob’s teacher let’s him wear a hall monitor sash home, he let’s it go to his head and causes chaos
-Plankton, the evil owner of the Chum Bucket, befriends Spongebob to get his hands on the Krabby Patty Secret Forumla
-Spongebob and Patrick think Mr. Krabbs is a robot

etc, etc.

</div>

Seriously? Are you kidding? Do you mean you want just examples from spongebob or other thoughtless kid shows they’re airing? Because in both you get spongebob in underwear and without underwear. Ripped his pants. That toilet humor wasn’t in any of the shows I watched growing up. And if you want other shitty shows try Lazy Town or Pinky Dinky Doo. I was a nanny and my ex had three small children and the shows I had to watch were terrible. I think teletubbies might have been better. And that’s really saying something. I’m currently buying the shows I once watched on dvd so when my husband and I start having kids I’ll have something decent to show them.

And yeah, rocko’s modern life was a show that I wasn’t allowed to watch just for it’s inappropriate context as well as simpsons and ren and stimpy. Just so we’re clear though I’ve never liked those shows so not watching them when I was younger wasn’t difficult. Plus there were just so many good shows you didn’t have enough time in the day to watch everything if you were active. People should get their kids outside more.

So, there wasn’t any toilet humor in the shows that were on when you were a kid, except for the ones that did have toilet humor?

## Yes!

Which would be more out of line? This commercial, or that in order for your kids to see it, they would have to be watching South Park or Adult Swim?

Someone at Burger King- and Nickelodeon- has _entirely_ too much spare time.

Having said that, I thought it was a great ad, if too long. The premise wears thin pretty quickly, but it’s definitely aimed at parents and not kids, and it’s almost dadaesque in its absurdity, which earns it extra points for general style. 😃

Or how about when they watch american idol? That’s a great time to air that commercial. And yes, there were shows with toilet humor but good parents don’t let their kids watch that crap.

I don’t know…more men have been to the moon than dancers that can put THAT on a RESUME’

Heh, I had to laugh when I first seen it. Leave it to BK to “sex up” the happy meal. Classic.

I will say I’ve only seen it at night past all the little snowflake’s bedtime. So I suspect the commercial is directed towards _parents_ rather than kids directly.

Spongebob’s pants get hooked, while he’s trying to get to the Krusty Krab, and they get ripped off, causing him to rocket forward, naked, to smack into the Krusty Krab’s glass doors, and Pearl calls him Spongebob Nopants.

Ahem, as the very lucky parent of a Spongebob-obsessed kid, I need to point out that Pearl says ‘Oh look, Spongebob **Nudiepants** ’, not ‘nopants’. Carry on.

My son is also crazy about the Simpsons. I love that boy.

Are you serious? You’re upset that a commercial that uses sex to sell is showing on a program that sell sex?

It think BK is trying hard to compete with Quiznos as to which restaurant’s advertising will drive me away faster. I have not seen a comercial from either place in years that actually makes me _want_ to go there to eat. But, at least this one is funny. It puts me off eating at BK, but it is funny.

I have found many things sexy.

90 degree asses is not one of them.

You are, of course, correct. I was misremembering the scene. (Although Nopants would have been funnier, IMO - matches the real format of his name better.)
