New cheeseburger urban myth?

Perhaps, but I’ve had enough potatoes in my life, in different forms (my mom never believed me when I told her potatoes made me sick, so she tried them in different ways, up to and including raw. Same went for restaurants) to know that one unique case is an interesting aberration. (And, as I pointed out, that was only in the late 80s, no longer the case.)

And, btw, Mangetout great user name for the thread!

eh, can’t miss what you haven’t had, I suppose. As I said, I’ve sampled enough potatoes to know what I’m missing, which ones I really miss (ie the perogies and scalloped potatoes, the two that I miss enoguh to still sneak some of despite the consequences I know will follow) and which ones I can live without. I live a full and healthy life without missing potatoes much.

Besides I’m not Irish.

(hmmm, one thing I’ve never tried is vodka, I wonder what effect that has on me? Granted, I don’t like much liquor, so taht just may not appeal to me at all potato product or no … )

Oooh, seems like I’ve hijacked the thread enough for the ads at the bottom to be about “McDonald’s Franchise info” and “Grow Yukon Gold Potatoes”!

Not all vodkas are made from potatoes; they also make them from rye, barley, soy, and probably anything else out there. I had a boss who had celiac disease and when I was making him some homemade gluten-free vanilla extract as a present (for his gluten-free home baking) I had to make sure I wasn’t getting him vodka made with wheat, barley, or rye; this was a bit harder than you’d expect.

She should try burying the two burgers in her backyard for a week to simulate the stomach environment more closely.

Bet it turns out different then.
