Is there an extra, secret message if you only read the randomly italicized words? My favorite line is Jamal’s “I’d be a fool to say no.” Because Santa Claus coming down the chimney? Ridiculous! Fairy lady leaving money for your teeth? Ha! Easter Bunny hiding colored eggs for you to find? Laughable!! God sending his only son to be brutally murdered so I can accept him (even though I had no idea who he was five seconds ago before the hero of the tale tells me about him) and go to heaven forever to live with a God with no face? What retard \*wouldn’t \* believe that? Sorry: _what_ retard wouldn’t _believe_ that? ---

There’s a murderous islamist (Has Uri Geller been messing with his knife?), a witch, a paleontologist (or archeologist), and (I think) a North Korean general. The woman in the middle of the bottom row looks like an old maid librarian atheist, or something. What does the burly guy with the pentagram on his forehead represent? ---

I think he represents all those young tatooed and bod mod defilers and heretics. The pentagram is incidental. They number six, the evil doers. Coincidence… or? ---

It’s just fantastic, this one. A work of art. I personally own a hard copy of every Chick track, and I look forward to adding this to my collection. I could start ten threads about how weird it is to view them pre- and post my recent conversion to atheism. I never believed in Chick’s Christianity before, except now I see that I did. ---

What I love about the people in Chickworld is how easily they’re convinced. You just need to explain the concept of a religion to them once and they’re converted. But I can see problems: Monday: “God sent Jesus down from Heaven and he died to save you. So believe in him or you’ll go the Hell.” “Wow, I’m convinced. I’m a Christian.” Wednesday: “The Lord revealed to Joseph Smith the truth of how Jesus traveled to America to visit the lost tribe.” “Wow, I’m convinced. I’m a Mormon.” Tuesday: “Allah sent his message to the Prophet Muhamad so all people would know his true word.” “Wow, I’m convinced. I’m a Muslim.” Thursday: “Xenu trapped alien thetans on Earth but L. Ron Hubbard found a way to clear them.” “Wow, I’m convinced. I’m a Scientologist.” Friday: “You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes.” “Wow, I’m convinced. I’m a Jedi.” It’s no wonder Jack’s always killing his characters off at the end of his stories. It’s the only way he can make sure they stay converted. ---
