Mestreech - posting for me in English is easier than posting in Dutch or dialect…For the last 7 years I have been completely submerged in English;
I lived in the UK for a year
I have been living in DC since 1999
My entire Business Administration course at the HogeSchool Zuid (is it is now called, I believe), former HEAO was taught in English.
It sucks that I missed out on carnaval this year…especially “AuwWieverBal” in Vallekeberg.
How is the rest of the binnenstad doing? I heard that for the longest time things were a big mess - Groete Staat, Kleine Staat, etc, etc were completely dug up
I’ve seen stories about the draining of the polders exposing the wrecks of a good many WW2 aircraft, mainly Allied bombers that had used the Zuider Zee to shorten the time they’d spend exposed to enemy anti-aircraft artillery. The Dutch military had/has to deal with so many recovered remains of crewmen that it’s a permanent program.
Just curious - when the new land was created, how was ownership handled? Did the government declare itself the owner and sell off parcels to entrepreneurial farmers or real-estate developers?
[Dutch hijack: beware]
Nice idea. Actually ColdFire doesn’t seem to believe you’re Dutch; you might want to set him straight.
ElvisL1ves, I believe indeed the reclaimed land did belong to the government (as does every public water and the floor beneath it).
