I know we’ve been over this on the board before, but despite what Pratchett said I have to say that the Patrician in the first few books was not Vetinari. Too many discrepancies for the character we know (even more than Granny Weatherwax between Equal Rites and Wyrd Sisters). And who cares what Pratchett says? It’s not like he obsessively pours over the Discworld series (and the series is probably better off for it 
).
Oddly enough, one of the people at work tonight was reading The Color of Magic. I did my best to direct him to the better ones.
