None of our pregnancies stuck, so we know how it feels. (We eventually adopted the Firebug, so it’s all good now.) So the missus and I will be rooting for you!

ETA: saw your latest after posting. Nine weeks is a good start, farther than we ever got - good luck!!!

Yes, I’m high risk so I had one last week with a beating heart and a sack that look on target for dates.

I’m still worried because I’ve had a bit of minor spotting but my OB told me to just stay off my feet and avoid carrying heavy things.

Congratulations **Heart of Dorkness** and best wishes on a healthy pregnancy, **LavendarBlue**.

I’ve got just over two weeks to go until my due date. I have a doctor’s appointment this afternoon so I’ll find out if there has been any progress. I’m hoping for some but not too much, as I’d really like to make it at least to my due date.

Stickstickstickstick.
I hate everyone whose babies sleep through the night. Thomas is six months old today and sleeping about two hours at a time. His brother did the same. We tried some sleep training a few weeks ago and gave up after the second night of two-hour-screaming-sit-no-sign-of-sleeping. I may retry pretty soon but last time wasn’t angry crying, it looked like terror and hysterics.

Or I’ll get Mr. Lissar to do his bedtime, I’ll take the toddler, and baby can chill (read, scream horrifically) at daddy while being night-weaned.

Congratulations, **Dornkness**! I know, sleeping is really hard when you’re on hyper-alert. It gets easier, and your little guy is beautiful.

Congrats to Dorkness! Can I be nosey and ask how many weeks Isaac was born at? That’s a good weight!

I’m at week 31 now, getting thoroughly kicked, and hoping to go to at least 40 weeks… (although I suspect I’ll have a different opinion by the time I’m suffering through week 38!)

This is where we are after six weeks. Most of the time, we can’t even get him down for two hours at all. I love my son, but this really is hard.

My I suggest a product for the littler ones?

[Miracle Blanket](http://www.miracleblanket.com/video.htm) is a lifesaver.

The amazing thing is that he was a pretty good sleeper until two months. Slept _all the time_. We thought, Hey, this one sleeps! Cool!

Nope.

**Maeglin** , six weeks is really hard. Colic/fussiness tends to peak around there. It gets better as they get more like little people and less like little aliens.

Of course, argh, the toddler has decided he’s terrified of his crib and is refusing to a)sleep on his own, and right now b) not nap, because Crib is Scary and on the padded floor is too distracting.

I need to take up drinking coffee.

Congrats on the new Dopers!
Sticky thoughts for the pre-Dopers cooking in their ovens.

Irishbaby is walking now, and has discovered that little boxes of raisins are tasty and fun, especially when mummy finds them hidden in odd places several days later.

Woohoo! At 3 1/2 months, my kid figured out the quick-feed thing. Thank you all for giving me hope!

Of course, now he’s learned how much fun it is to pop off every few seconds to grin and giggle at me if he’s not all that hungry, so there’s that.

I had exactly the same experience with both my kids. My son never slept, so we just got used to it. I think he was 2.5 years old when he started sleeping reliably all night.

But our daughter did the bait and switch. She’s much more devious (intentionally and unintentionally) than our son. As a newborn, she slept 4-5 hours at a time, even being breastfed. Then at 6 weeks, it was like a switch flipped and she only napped 20-30 minutes, tops, and slept maybe 2 hours at a time at night.

She slept 8 hours straight night before last (she’s 10.5 months) for the first time since, oh, February. And I think the only reason she did that was because she’s coming down with a cold. She was back to her old tricks last night. We typically get 3-4 hours out of her before she’s up again. After a while, I just bring her to our bed or my husband takes her downstairs to the guest room.

We tried crying, patting - everything - but she simply hasn’t read the same books we have. So we’ll just wait it out a while longer.

And congrats to all the Dopers with the new babies!

Hi, everyone! New doper parent checking in. My husband and I welcomed our daughter, Jane, on Oct. 8. She weighed 9 pounds, 6 ounces and was 22-3/4 inches long! At her first doctor’s appointment on Tuesday she was up to 9 pounds 14 ounces and 23-1/2 inches long. We are so in love with her and are amazed to have been blessed with such a beautiful child.

Here she is:

Jane! I love that name. If I didn’t have a one-syllable last name, I’d have considered it for my daughter.

She’s a darling little giant, isn’t she? I think mine was six weeks old before she was that big!

We have a one-syllable last name, too, but it doesn’t bother us. My husband and I both go by one-syllable nicknames most of the time so she fits right in!

She is definitely not a dainty girl, but it did not come as a surprise. My husband is 6’2" and I am 5’9". At birth, I weighed 10 lb 14-1/2 oz and was 22-1/2 inches long. Jane is in the 99th percentile for height, but is pretty lean. No fat rolls on this one (except for her chubby cheeks and double chin).

</div>

My husband is 6’3" and I’m 5’11", so we were expecting a baby more along the lines of your Jane, and were quite surprised to get a kid who was 50th percentile until she was a year old. After she turned one, she shot up to 90th in three months. It was actually pretty insane. Then again, I was 7 lb 13 oz at birth, and my husband was a little over 9…at a month overdue.
