# New Flag for MS?: Or, we found the curve.

Usually one to be well behind the curve, it seems we are finally finding the curve and catching up.

It’s in the news today, [ABC News](http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/Confederate001212.html) and [MSNBC](http://www.msnbc.com/local/WLBT/166143.asp) both have it. Our flag commission has picked a replacement flag. Red White and Blue bars, with a red field with 20 stars in a circular pattern. The 20 stars being for MS being the 20th state.

Not suprisingly, the commission has been through heck and back getting opinions. You’d think most of Mississippi realised it was the 21st century (more or less). But watching those rednecks, foaming at the mouth, shouting that you would take their 106 year old flag from their cold dead hands gave me the chills. Ever met someone so ignorant, so blind to common reality that you could almost see the ignorance? Like some type of black aura? That’s what gave me the chills, watching those Town Hall meetings in the news. Seeing people that passionate about defending what amounts to a piece of cloth is scary.

After seeing who is interested in defending our current flag, I’m all for retiring it to a “Historical Object” and start with the new one. It doesn’t look that bad, and I think we can all live with it.

If only the rednecks will let us.

Anyone have an actual picture of the flag? Some people in the article suggest it is rather unattractive.
