Ok there’s a new Fletch movie that has been commissioned by Miramax. The funny thing is that Kevin Smith (“Clerks”, “Chasing Amy”) has been asked to remake the script. Only thing is, knowing Kevin Smith, the movie will be called “Feltch” ---

In which case it might actually be funny, unlike the previous Fletch debacles. Kevin Smith does not have to stoop to doing such idiotic projects. MR ---

Not only is Smith writing the movie, but he’ll be directing as well, and Jason Lee is likely to star in the title role. And I thought the first “Fletch” movie was pretty funny. ---

Kevin’s a great writer, and a not-bad director. He’s going back to the original novels for this project, and it (probably) won’t have Chevy Chase forcing the jokes. I’m looking forward to it. Certainly don’t judge this movie based on the other two (the first of which I thought was good). ---

Let me guess. In the new movie, Fletch will have two sidekicks: a big silent guy in a black trenchcoat and a lanky druggie who talks about Wolverine and says “snoonchy noonchies”. Great. Like those two didn’t get boring three movies ago. How long before Smith starts complaining about the suits at Miramax and how they stifled his creative juices? ---

You know it’s kind of funny that everyone is actually commenting on the prospects of the movie, when all i really wanted to do was work the word “feltch” into the conversation.
