Besides being the Capitul, Sacramento is also a relatively quick drive to San Francisco, while being more affordable, more jobs, etc.
Why would that be?
The percentage of people born in a state in a given year who later realized they were gay should be more or less independent of state.
But like blacks migrating from the South to the North and West during much of the 20th century, gays found certain parts of the country less hospitable, and migrated to places they found more hospitable. Generally this was a migration from rural America generally to the cities of the Northeast and West coast.
