New Jersey/New York Travel Question

Continuing hijack–

The Melody is closed?!? And the Budapest has no more music? (Where have I been, right?) I get down there rarely, now, but I used to live in Highland Park, so we’d walk over to see shows and hang out all the time. The Old Bay was my favorite. And I loved the Bowl-O-Drome in it’s brief shining moment of glory. I’m sorry to hear that the scene isn’t as good as it once was. I know quite a few people who play/played in NB often–my bestest bud is marrying one of them on Labor Day. In fact, they met in the basement of Tumulty’s. I’ll have to ask around see where they all are playing these days.

I haven’t listened to the music on your site yet. I knocked the plug out of my speakers months ago. I guess this is a good excuse to get under there, clean out the clots of dog hair, and plug 'em back in.

p.s. At this rate, you’ll have a post count of 10,000 by Christmas. <evil laugh>

10,000? Well, I do tend to get addicted to things like this…

Poor Knighted Vorpal Sword is finding out more about NJ than he bargained for!

As to NB…well, I tend towards hyperbole sometimes. Old Bay is still there, still has good jazz and blues (and a delicious peppercorn encrusted steak, and this fruity drink called swampwater that has gobs or rum…) sorry, where was I?

There’s also Harvest Moon, also has jazzy and more folky music…

But coming from my more hard rock perspective, the only place really left is the Court Tavern, and that was (and still is I believe) being threatened by a developer.

The owners of the melody had some kind of dispute with each other, closed the bar and sold it to RWJ. Budapest closed for awhile, and re-opened, haven’t been in but I’m told it’s more like a sports bar now.

Tried to find a story about it, but all I came across online is this which only mentions what’s going on in passing.

I wonder if we know any of the same people… The studio I recorded at is owned and operated by the guys from Love Gas, an old NB based band… My guitar teacher, friend of my sister’s from high school, played bass in Freak Party and then Herbal Junkie, two bands from the NB scene…

Anyway, I think that’s enough verboseness on my part for now…

Now, should I go do some work or should I go to the pit to rant about Dell…
