A classical (female) German cat name is _Mieze_ (pron. MEE-tse). Or, if you want to keep your options open, you can use _Dachhase_ (literally: roof hare, pron. DUCH-huh-se) - an euphemism for ā€˜catā€™ used in hungry years. ---

My cat was supposed to be named ā€œFrau Schulzeā€ (shool-tse), but when she arrived we decided she didnā€™t look like that, so ā€œFrau Schulzeā€ is still free if you want to use it. Iā€™ve also been partial to the name ā€œTussiā€ (TOOS-see) (airheaded girl who spends time looking pretty and has others to do the work and pick up the check), because it pretty much sums up what cats DO. And itā€™s easy to yell when the cat sets foot on the dinner tableā€¦ ---

Kuscheltier it is close to meaning cuddle pet. And it getā€™s shortened to Kusch a lot which is nice. But I also agree with chowder. ---
