# New Kitty! Need name suggestions.

My wife and I found ourselves the new owners of a new kitty. Her sister found [this poor little guy](http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2199/2242819809_8f74006ce2.jpg) outside her house. He had lost use of his back legs and was dragging himself around in the snow.
She took him into the vet and found out that he had a bulging disc in his back. He suffered some kind of trauma but the vets didn’t know how. She got him all his shots and the vets gave him a weeks worth of steroid treatments.
The good news is that his back legs are working again. They are stick skinny because it is obvious that he hasn’t used them in quite awhile, but the are working. The problem was that he is still pretty unsteady on his feet. My SIL’s house has slippery wooden stairs going down to the basement and the poor kitty already took a tumble trying to negotiate them. So he had been stuck locked in a room when he wasn’t supervised for his own safety.
Well, he is quite the sweetheart and my wife and I couldn’t let him live in isolation, so we took him in. We still don’t know what to call him yet. I want to call him Garbage, but my wife doesn’t like it. I’m open to suggestions - my wife seems to insist on people names for our kitties though.
As you can see from the backround of the picture, Art has accepted him readily. Our other kitty is a bit wary, but I think she’ll come around.

ME TOO! “Cornelius” was the first thing I thought of and I swear I did not read this thread first. Although I like Wile E’s “The Incredible Mr. Limpet” too. I forget what his first name was (Mr. Limpet’s, I mean).

I’m not really enjoying my daily good samaritan act and today is clean out the kitty litter trays day. Even tipping them out you get a cloud of dust that I inhale. I end up feeling like a miner with black lung. Gee I preferred our cats that ate and toileted outside when I was a kid. And my brother’s cats still do this, only coming in when they want some human company.

Thanks everyone. He really does fancy himself royalty despite having limited use of his back legs. I think actually naming him his Royal Highness would go to his head.
Oddly enough, the missus and I were considering Winston or Baxter last night - Claxton is a good compromise I think.
I do like the name Claymore too. Chester would be alright if it were short for Winchester. I’ll have to go over these with my wife tonight to see what she thinks.
He could be a Cornelius, but that is a mouthful and I can’t see myself calling him Corn.
Ianzen, we were thinking about incorporating his problem, but he may have a full recovery. We thought the name Handicat was kinda cute - but it would be silly if he got full use of his legs back.
Sorry, Mangetout, I’m one of the few cat owners who isn’t particularly entertained by LOLCats.

He does look like you should name him something noble. I always wanted to name a cat Mary Sidney, Countess of Pembroke and call her Sidney for short. Never thought about a noble name for a male cat, though.
