I often “name” neighborhood cats after their appearance (there’s a black-and-white I call Moe because, from head on, it looks like Moe Howard of The Three Stooges). Alas, I see nothing distinctive in your cat (though his contemplative mien makes him worthy of something like Aristotle). Though I’ll probably smack myself later for suggesting this, how about Ironside, after the paraplegic 60s TV detective? From your description, it is clear that he is one tough pussy (oxymoronic pun intended). Or maybe Hardscrabble. ---

Oh goodness, is he ever a handsome and regal looking lad. Mega karma points to both you and your sister for taking care of him. He looks like a Charlemagne to me (or Charlie, for short), or perhaps an Alexander the Great. A cat like that deserves no less than a conqueror’s monicker. ---
