# New Macbook doesn't have a user replaceable battery

I mean…what the Hell, Apple? I’m not a default Apple hater, I own two iPods and admit the iPhone looks sexy, if a bit overpriced, but I have always said one thing about them: they sacrifice convenience and usability for the sake of form. I hate to burst their bubble, but electronics are not an art form. Yes, some are pretty, but they’re not going to be on display in The Louvre anytime soon.

Oh, but wait, you can buy a replacement battery for $129 and Apple will install it for free. Well, a lot of good that does poor Joe MacBookUser when he’s out doing whatever it is people with MacBooks do and he needs to swap in a new battery now.

It just seems like a stupid, stupid, thing to do. I can see lots of downsides, but yet the only upside I can see is that is kind of makes the _underside_ of the laptop look prettier.
