> It has art galleries and historic buildings as well. There are two ghost towns nearby. [Water Canyon](http://publiclands.org/explore/site.php?id=164) campground & picnic area is not far away, with rugged terrain, hiking trails and trees for a break from the high desert. 30 miles west is the [Very Large Array](http://www.vla.nrao.edu/). I don’t think I’ve ever visited the VLA without seeing pronghorn antelope.

> Oh, and a little farther west is [Pie Town](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pie_Town,_New_Mexico)!

Ditto the VLA and Pietown.

… and watch out for speed traps. I was driving east of Pietown at the 65 mph speed limit when I saw a 55 mph sign. I dropped it down, drove a few miles, didn’t see any sign of a town and then increased me speed to 65 . Then I saw another 55 sign so I repeated the above process. Then I saw the cop.

There’s more to the story if anyone is interested.

> Well, I’ve driven past the Citadel Apts. countless times- I like to watch the Lobos play at the Pit and often take University Blvd. to or from games. Plus a good friend used to live about a mile south of there (half a block from Roosevelt Park on Coal Ave.), but honestly I never knew the apartment complex’s name until now, or paid much attention to them.

> I actually live and work in Rio Rancho (1.5 miles from the city limits) and have never lived in Albuquerque proper. But I love Albuquerque and I love living in New Mexico. I’ve been to pretty much every place people have mentioned in this thread (except the stuff in the Silver City area) and agree that they are all worth visiting.

That’s on the southeast corner of the intersection. I think there were other apartments on the northwest corner. The Citadel looks like it’s name, a big citadel. Never made it out to Rio Rancho, but I worked one summer knocking on doors in Albuquerque for the New Mexico Public Interest Research Group (NM PIRG). They sent two guys out to Rio Rancho who had the serious bikes needed to go between houses out there.

I have decided on NE NM and have a B&B reservation in Corrales. I’ll use this thread as a reference while I’m there.
Oh, and I’m going this weekend and it will be during the dark moon, so stargazing will be on my agenda.
