# New Nickels.  Are They Out?  Has Anyone Seen One?

The US Mint is [issuing new nickels](http://money.cnn.com/2003/04/24/news/economy/nickel/) some time this year. So far, I haven’t seen any or heard when they were going to be introduced. Anyone know when they’re going to be released and if they’re already out, has anyone seen one?

I haven’t seen one nor could I find anything at [usmint.gov](http://usmint.gov) which is weird. Maybe the program got cancelled?

I did find the [Mint press release.](http://www.usmint.gov/pressroom/index.cfm?action=press_release&ID=433)

According to the coin collecting newsgroups, it’s coming out early next year. No final design yet.
