New poll shows Bush with a double digit lead

I work in an white-collar/professional office where there is a subgroup of political junkies. We forward politcal e-mails, jokes, propaganda, and get into good-natured debates. It does seem, from the democrats in our little group, that the popular vote is the real issue with how “Gore really won the election.” That the people chose him and he should be the president. One guy has the popular vote counts in large bold font, stuck on his corkboard.

So, whenever we debate ourselves into our respective political corners, the Gore-supporters’ parting shot is usually, “Well, we won the popular vote, so there!” (My parting shot is usually “neener, neener”)

I’m sure going to be glad when this election is over.

Then I hope all the snark will cease.

Hey, there’s always hope.

You are sadly mistaken. There is no snark to be found at the SDMB, only guff and sass.

Guff and sass?

Is that like flatulence?

Well, I hope you Bush backers enjoyed his post-convention bounce, because according to the latest poll, it has already evaporated:

CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll, Sept 3-5: Bush’s convention bounce appeared to be 2 percentage points.

Apparently, Bush’s standings have plummeted 9 points in 2 days. That has got to be the fastest bounce in presidential campaign history. Not so much a bounce really, as much as a hop, a leap from the pan into the fire, if you will. Only time will tell, of course, but I am betting this is Bush’s high water mark, for his last campaign.

Hasta la vista, Baby.

Putting Bush ahead 52% to Kerry’s 45%? And you are happy about that?

At this rate, (-9 points in two days), Kerry will be fucking unbeatable by the end of the week. I am ecstatic!

You are bright enough to realize that you are talking about 3 different polls, right?

Really?!?!?

Gosh, by the way you conservatives talked in this thread, all polls are infallible, and as such, they all reflect the precise will of the voters at any one time. So my conclusion must be accurate, right Brutus?

[SIZE=7] :rolleyes: [/SIZE}

Golly! Yeah, you’re right! Damn…why, in just twelve days Bush will have 0% support. None, zip, zilch, nada! Wow, that’s incredible. No wonder you’re so happy!

(Uh…get back to me in twelve days, okay? We’ll see how that logic holds up.)

No.

Wow, a Simul-Whoosh™!!

The only poll that matters is that to be taken in the Supreme Court in December.

Heh.

Wait a second. the poll I started the thread with showed Bush’s numbers at 52%, the poll you quoted showed him at 52%. Where’s the difference? In adition, the “9 point drop” you are quoting is a myth, you made it up. The 2% is the difference between Bush’s pre RNC and post RNC numers acording to the CNN poll, while the 11 point lead referenced in the OP was the difference between the candidates in the Reuters one. You’re comparing apples to oranges and defining the difference as a lemon. Don’t you know how to read polling data? Why am I the one being accused of offering a slanted view if this is the crap you’re going to post?

I have found Fear Itself to be an honorable poster. I assure you that he will be along shortly to admit his error and apologize.

Well, one would like to think so, but it’s been a day and a half and Feer Itself hasn’t spoken up, so I am forced to conclude that his “When come back, bring debate” was just so much bullshit. I’ve brought debate, but he’s strangely absent from the thread. I suspect that he’s one of these people who talk a good game, but retreat when someone calls them on their bullshit.

What’s going on here? I let one thread slip through the cracks, and get bitch-slapped for it?

So you don’t like my math? Well, add this:

As I said, your 11 point has evaporated, and even faster than my original cite. Say what you will about my original conclusions, but the bottom line is, you are crowing about a worthless bounce that no one inside the Bush campaign is counting on.

Well, I’m sorry about that, but it’s Liberal’s fault. He defended you so eloquently that I was all poised and waiting for your appearance any minute, and when you didn’t show, I was terribly disappointed (and a bit drunk when I posted that)

It’s not your math I dislike, it’s the complete misrepresentation of polling data in you last post. Were you intentionally trying to misrepresent what the polls said, did you misread them, or what? I outlined the problems with your post in my response, which is it?

That’s interesting, it now says 48%-46% Bush. How often does it change? Also, who or what is “Rasmussen Reports”? I’ve heard of CNN, Time, Newsweek, Reuters, Gallup, etc…, but not them. Do they use standard polling methods or something different?

I’ll wait until you answer my question directly above or Reuters, Gallup, et. al. does another poll before I determine that, thank you.

Bottom line is, I am not “crowing” about anything. How dumb is it of you to think that I am “crowing” about a poll that shows my candidate behind? I brought up a topic for discussion. Jesus, is it any wonder that I hate liberal politics as much as I do? You’re doing the exact same thing as those idiots on the right-“Oh, you don’t agree with us 100% that every time Kerry shits, gold comes out, or you dare to question Kerry’s inevitable win or you say something negative about Kerry so you MUST BE AGAINST US!” What a crock.

And this is supposed to encourage debate? You made more sense when you were drunk.

Good day Sir; I said Good Day!!
