Just caught a review on BBC of Pynchon’s new novel, called _Inherent Vice_. First I’ve heard of it, so excited to hear that it’s coming out next month.

The good news, for those of us feeling a bit battered by _Against the Day_ and _Mason and Dixon_, is that it’s apparently squarely in the accessible Pynchon zone of \*Vineland \*and _The Crying of Lot 49_. Even features some of the same characters. So it will be light on dense, lyrical prose but big on mischief, real comedy and even a bit of plot. Should be a lot of fun.
