We need a squeeeee! smiley, for threads about food, kittehs, puppehs and good happenings… I understand why we dont have a vomit smiley [we have some vomit phobes onlist] but a squeee smiley should be relatively innocuous… pretty please? ---

I have a feeling I’ll regret asking, but what does a squee smiley look like? And what does squee mean. Also, what are “kittehs and puppeh”. Are you trying for an accent? Whose, a little kids’s? And is squee positive or pejorative? See, I already regret asking. ::frump emoticon:: ---

Never mind what a “squee” emoticon is; it’s not important. We’ll talk about puppehs and kitties later. First we get a pirate emoticon, then we discuss why Mr. Dubious looks like a distressed and possibly constipated mummy. ---

Smilies fight ignorance insofar as they act as softeners: many statements that are innocuous when spoken appear harsh on the printed page or screen. Dubious was a less obnoxious version of rolleyes. Smackie was an improvement over the embarrassed emoticon. Those needing to _express_ a new emotion can use the double colon format. For example, You like puppies, ::ick::. 😕 How can anybody not like puppies? ::kawai!:: Incidentally, we have a number of satellite boards at the moment, some of which are more friendly to graphics. Those wishing a new emoticon might attempt a trial run there. Personally, I think that cutifying one’s remarks would quickly turn saccharine. Oh, and mummy emoticon?
