So when the Democrats have their convention, he will claim that they are just copying what he knew was the right thing to do all along, even though the Democrats have already planned their small convention. ---

And if the announcement can from anyone else, the MAGA folk would have assumed it was the deep state and/or Trump would have announced at some point that there was still going to be a convention. He is capable of completely changing his stance on something, but this is public enough that it should be safe. Although any downtick in FL case numbers could lead to him deciding he does still want his speech. ---
