>
> The [Fox News](https://www.huffpost.com/news/topic/fox-news) personality peddled paranoia about the [COVID-19 vaccine](https://www.huffpost.com/topic/covid-vaccine) Tuesday, speculating that “it doesn’t work” and that the government won’t say so out loud. What’s the answer to that? It doesn’t make any sense at all. If the vaccine is effective, there’s no reason for people who’ve received it to wear masks or avoid physical contact.”
>
> “So, maybe it doesn’t work, and they’re just not telling you that,” he continued. “You’d hate to think that, especially if you’ve gotten two shots. But what’s the other potential explanation? We can’t think of one.”

Boehner is not the exception to the Republican rule. He is the rule. He was willing to overlook Trump’s weaponizing of race and gender, his decidedly un-conservative approach to debt and deficit, his open disdain at the idea of being “presidential,” all because Trump nominated conservative judges to the Supreme Court. That’s the deal Republicans made with themselves way back when Trump won the nomination in 2016. Boehner was no different.

> Have you guys heard about the latest Republican plan to flood the country with illegals and let rioters tear down the country in a fit of mob justice ?

Gee, if that’s what the Republicans are trying to do then they’re sure doing a pathetically crap job of it.

Illegal immigration, so far from “flooding the country”, has [significantly decreased and stabilized over the past decade](https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2021/04/13/key-facts-about-the-changing-u-s-unauthorized-immigrant-population/). The current spike in detentions at the border isn’t having much of an impact on that trend.

As for “rioters tearing down the country”, if you’re referring to the Jan. 6 terrorist attack on the Capitol, I’ll allow that was a decent effort, but it ended up a total failure.

On the other hand, if you’re referring to various short-lived spurts of rioting following protests about extrajudicial killings over the past year, what kind of a trembling snowflake do you have to be in order to view that as “tearing down the country”? What it is is temporary local civic violence following widespread public outrage over a controversial incident, of the same sort that the US has been periodically coping with for the past two hundred years and more.

In short, if Republicans really are trying “to flood the country with illegals and let rioters tear down the country”, they’re exhibiting an embarrassing level of incompetence at it.

Not sure if I’ve seen you around, **DolomiteD** , and your public profile isn’t exactly public, so I can’t tell if you’ve been reminded, but “illegal,” being an adjective, doesn’t have a plural form. The use of the word as a noun is definitionally dehumanizing, and rejected by decent human beings, of course.
