This news article is from January 6, but there were other things going on at the time that kind of overshadowed it, but now the conspiracy theory has resurfaced. Italy was the one that stole the election for Biden. Yanno, our esteemed State Attorney general, Brnovitch; Republican Senate President, Fann; and US Representative, Biggs keep bleating about how the audit here is just them responding to voter concerns about the fraudulent voting. When they run again I think I’ll attend their rallys and say, “I’m concerned that you are reptiloid shape changers from Zeta Reticuli who have taken human form. This is demonstrated by your utter lack of knowledge on how elections work in this state, either the process or its traditions. I demand you cease your campaign until you prove me wrong.” There are others but their rallys are more out of reach. I will, of course, discount any evidence they come up with. “So your DNA tests as human? That just shows how skilled you are at shape changing!” ---

A commission to determine if someone is sane enough to run for and serve in public office? Seems the constitution didn’t narrow things down enough. I could nominate several members of the SDMB to serve as screeners. ---

Pay attention to the symbolism of barbarity when it is applied by a political faction that intends to use undemocratic means of gaining power. If we’ve learned something from the Trump era, it’s that the symbolism of brutality often portends barbarity and cruelty in reality. The brutality is a litmus test, and the commonly referenced ‘bad guys’ of history used cruelty’s symbolism to those who shared their values. And it almost always escalates. Yesterday it was caged migrant children. Today’s abortion laws that endanger pregnant women and WWII-era gas. Tomorrow…something else. Count on it. ---
