Oklahoma GQP chairman goes completely nutso equating employer vaccine mandates to the Holocaust. And doubling down. This is only one of many wild ideas (murder Hillary Clinton, equating all muslims as murderers, election fraud). In the article is a priceless family portrait of his family abusing the US flag and posing with high powered rifles and semi-automatics. Go to his facebook post at your risk. To some credit, the Okie senators and congress critters issued a joint statement condemning his outburst - this time. They’d better watch out, he’ll be primarying their asses soon. The GQP committee is taking steps to remove him (we’ll see). Not supposed to say these things out loud. But they can’t just throw up their hands and say ‘_sure Kevin McCarthy is trying to normalize violence as an everyday, unremarkable tool in the political toolbox, but what do you expect from a Republican?_’ If they said nothing they’d be helping McCarthy with his normalization-of-violence project. ---

There’s a certain understandable tendency–which I have in as great supply as anyone else–to want to avoid positions of vulnerability. The trick, though, is to make the request very, very public–and to make it a demand more than a request.
